OOB - making of, tutorial
Used following Out-of-bounds tutorial as a initial technique.
Screen snapshot before I added shadows outside of boundary. Later, I did following (sorry, no screen grab, I didn't save as psd file):
- I merged all layers, you see on photo above,
- selected the excavator part with color range ...
- copied the selection to new layer,
- moved it left and deformed it with Transform tool
- changed the layer to black color
- blurred the shadow layer (Gaussian blur)
- changed to multiply blend mode and opacity appr. 55%
- added layer mask and painted over the parts, I wanted to hide.
Saved.

About
My Maks is watching this excavator every day, and he enjoys every moment, when he is near the big machines. I made this photo series through opening in a fence.
The shot
Standard 3 exposures [-2, 0 (1/400s), +2EV] in IS0100/RAW at f/8 using the CANON EF-S 17-85mm lens@50mm, hand held.
Photomatix
Tonemapped using the detail enhancer (settings can be seen in EXIF data), saved as 8bit jpeg (as always).
Photoshop
° improved contrast with curves adjustment layer
° added more depth of shades with levels adjustment layer
° desaturated red channel with Hue/Saturation adjustment layer
° lightened sky for more natural look
° increased details with applying HighPass filter two times.
° scaled and saved.
